Driving Tour of Historic Lancaster County Barns

Fellow Barn Geeks, rejoice!

We’ve said it before but, we’re barn geeks at Stoll and Wolfe. We’re thankful to craft whiskey surrounded by functional monuments to a local history of hard work, ingenuity, and community.

We’re thankful for the hard work the folks at Historic Preservation Trust of Lancaster County and the Historical Society of Cocalico Valley are doing to raise awareness of the cultural significance and local history represented by the historic barns.

We’re excited to take the tour once selections are finalized and the booklet is published.

From WITF.com “The Historic Preservation Trust of Lancaster County and the Historical Society of Cocalico Valley are launching a driving tour of historic barns in Lancaster County.”

“Bowman discussed what’s the idea behind the barn tour project, ‘We think through this barn tour, we can educate them not only on barns but also the architecture of the barns, the cultural significance, and also our agricultural community in Lancaster County.’”

From Historic Preservation Trust of Lancaster County “The following criteria have been formulated in order to be submitted as a potential barn tour site”

  • must be visible from a public road
  • barn should be at least 50 years or older
  • must have historical and/or architectural significance
  • presently used as part of a working farm or re-purposed for another use

Stay tuned. The Committee is hoping to have the booklet ready by October for the tour.
